Electrical Steels are ultra low carbon steels (with less than 4% Silicon added to reduce core losses).  Grain Oriented (GO) type Electrical Steels are those which offer the lowest core loss and highest permeability (in the rolling direction). They are however more expensive than NGO steels.  They are used mostly in Transformers.  Their properties are sensitive to trace impurities, which differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. To account for this sensitivity, MagWeb lists the properties of each manufacturer, irrespective of their grade. For a full list of all grades, click the searchable ‘Steels List’ button on the home page.

MagWeb’s Electrical Steel (GO) Folder has 411 excel files listing the magnetic properties of these Grades, produced by 13 manufacturers.  They contain 221  B(H) Data Sets and 190 Core Loss data sets.  For a full list of names of all these Grades, please click on  SMAG – Materials. Version 6 collects B(H) and core loss properties of a grade in a single excel file.

Version 6 also added a data smoother. It is not unusual for measured data to be rough. Rough data can slow solution convergence.  To prevent such slowdown, MagWeb locates all rough spots in all raw data and spot-cleans them.  Version 6 also extrapolates all smoothed data to saturation. You can download Saturation Flux Density Js of thousands of Grades from the ‘Steels List’ button.

For more technical information on the magnetic properties of these steels, please download the ‘Steels Handbook’ from the home page.

This website is designed for the automated download of Folders (containing the magnetic property files) via credit card. If you wish to purchase via quote/purchase order, please email rao@magweb.us
